Laughter's been an elixir for everyone but the ones who make it.
A comic spends every night taking away a room full of strangers' worries. A producer builds the room that makes it possible — booking the talent, taking the financial risk, and holding the whole night together. One is the medicine; the other makes sure there's a place to take it.
And both of them get stuck with the part that has nothing to do with comedy: the booking emails, the chasing-down payment, the spreadsheets, the no-shows, the endless admin.
We think that's backwards. So we built Jocus to take care of the people who take care of comedy — on stage and behind it.
You take care of the funny. We'll take care of the rest.
Why one account does both jobs
Jocus didn't start in a boardroom. It started with one person doing both jobs on the same night: writing and grinding open mics, then booking the room, chasing the lineup, and willing the show into existence. Most tools make you pick which of those people you are. Living both is why this one doesn't.
So there is no comic account and no producer account here — there's one account that writes a set and runs a room, because that's who most of this scene actually is. The comic you book tonight is running her own night on Thursday. Her vault, her gig history and her room all sit behind the same login, and none of it has to be entered twice.
We felt the problem from every angle: bits lost in a phone's notes app, payments you had to hunt down, last-minute no-shows, spreadsheets that should have been a stage. And the same comic and showrunner also writes the code — so the person who's felt every booking headache is the one shipping the fix. No middlemen, no roadmap lost in translation.

What Jocus does
Writing is free here, and so is your first room: the vault, your setlists, the press kit, and one night you can post, fill and run end to end. What we charge for is the money — settling the door against your costs, working out what every comic on the bill is owed, and splitting what's left with a co-producer. We handle the business of comedy so the people on stage can stay on stage.
Taken together, it's an operating system for grassroots comedy. Not because it does everything, but because everything runs off one identity: the same account that holds your vault holds the room you produce, the roster you book from, and the ledger of what each night paid. Book a comic and it lands in her gig history. Name a fee once and every invite for the series quotes it. Settle a night and both sides' books agree, because there was only ever one set of them. Nothing has to be entered twice, and nothing has to be reconciled between two apps that each think they're the system of record.

Joe Kelly — Chief Sit-Down Officer
While comics take the stage and producers run the room, Joe does the sit-down. He's the one keeping Jocus running — the bookings confirmed, the lineups set, the payments moving — so you don't have to. He is also, technically, the CFO, Head of Support, and the guy who refills the coffee.
